Man, a lot has been going on.

WGF is now a part of a local community of bands and musicians called the Wandering Infinity Collective.

Maybe I’ll get some time for another CD, but things are slow – I’m actually working on something new with my friend Paul Hiatt, (his blog is here: http://paulhiatt.blogspot.com/). We call it a Southern Rock band but we’re not really sure what it’s going to be, but it’ll sound midwesty. Yeah, Midwest Rock, Midwest guitar Rock. He’s a great songwriter and I hope I can keep up with him. Maybe we’ll be playing around as an acoustic duo before the band comes together.

I do miss the WGF music, though. I’m trying to cut the fat in order to get more time … time to do more. As it is always, life, no matter how small in the eyes of an infinite universe, wanders on.

Greetings earthings.
It’s been a while but I have returned.
I’ve been spending most of my time in the filmworld as the wandering infinity guy, creating and supplying music for a new, local, indie film called “Render Me Dead”. You can see the trailer at http://vimeo.com/7002007. It’s being submitted to film festivals now so there won’t be a public screening until that process is finished. Hopefully you can see the premier at the Seattle International Film Festival!

It features some new bands from Seattle and some that have been around for a while and it includes two tracks from the last When Giants Fall CD.

Some of the other bands are:
Lark Vs. Owl
Green Chili GoGo Dust
Big Dirt
Aunt Jamamas Big Bands Vigilantes
Paul Hiatt

A few pieces of the score were written by me, but the majority was improvised under my direction with a group of guys that became the Garden Gnome Chomskys (http://www.myspace.com/thegardengnomechomskys).

You can get the Soundtrack CD at the WIStore (http://wistore.wanderinginfinity.com/) soon. I need to upload all of the songs so you can buy them individually and that won’t happen until early January 2010.
However, Green Chili GoGo Dust just put put a fanstastic debut CD which is available now. You’ll also find Lark Vs. Owl there as well, another superb debut CD.

The WIStore (http://wistore.wanderinginfinity.com/)

Until next time,

We just got back from a vacation, visiting my sister in Hawaii. Yes it was warm and we spent lots of time on the beach in Napili. Then we returned home (after many hours of waiting and a red-eye flight) to a snowy Seattle. Even though I didn’t get much sleep, the first thing I did was a lot of snow shoveling and it elt good.

Although the studio is booked with other projects (check out Lark Vs. Owl) for January, WGF will be working on a new CD very soon. I have been spending so much time with the business side of things (you know promotion, getting gigs, b.ah, blah, blah) and not doing a particularly good job of it … that I haven’t had time to spend on what I really like to do. But with the new year comes new ideas and soon I will be changing things around and concentrating on new tunes.

As soon as I can convince someone to edit out some of the songs I will post them.

I am very happy to announce that we’ll be playing with Trip Like Animals on Friday, Oct 4th at the Mars Bar.

If myspace happens to work when you go there you can hear them there (click the link above).

We’ll also be playing with To The Waves. Both bands have CDs out on some sort of label, for what that’s worth. I have been trying to catch a Trip Like Animals show, so I’m psyched to get the chance to see them.

See you there!

So, I’d had last friday marked on my calendar for a while already. Kim Virant was going to play an acoustic show at Piecora’s and I had rediscovered her recently. Where’s she been, anyway? Apparently she’s been playing music and I’ve been missing it. I helped record a demo of Lazy Susan oh so many years ago and have always loved her voice (she does a great cover of The First Cut Is The Deepest). And Jeff Fielder was going to be there as well. I’d seen him with the Jimi Hendrix tribute thing at EMP, and knew he would be worth seeing. THe line up was: Kim Virant, Jeff Fielder, Jared Clifton, Tony Fulgham, Tim Dijulio.

Anyway, it turns out that Radio Free Seattle was hosting this thing, and King Jill just review our CD (Momentum, in case you don’t know) and invited me out.

It was one of those magical evenings where you sort of stumble into something fantastic. The show was that good. I was so happy to be there, and glad that we got there early, because it was packed. I heard that they had to turn people away. The room was filled with great energy – I think everyone was well aware that we were part of a great show.

Thanks to Jill for putting it on!

How unprepared for happiness. The sun scorches and the sweat seeps out confused and bewildered. Aimless unspecified moments are squandered, wondering how to cope, how to reduce the anxiety, how to quench the pain we feel, while outwardly smiling and saying, “Oh! Sun, how glad we are to see you!” Hypocrites. Used to the idea that the greyish swath of permanent moistness was the cause of our grief, we reconciled ourselves to the frequent naps and the slow, sobbing pace of utter blankness. In these days of spring when we have been trained by cultures worldwide to look for love and rebirth and find instead an indifferent, just long enough to be registered glance, of the one we hope, had hoped, will love us. It was not rejection, so, stupidly we stumble forward, somehow measuring false logic with hormones and fantasy.

Our soaking shoes and rain gear hang drying again, indelibly stained with the sour odor of nervous sweat and the never drying mist of despair. They do their job, as best they can under our care. Today they are forgotten; the glare of the sun and unrecognizable heat have distracted us from our methodical ways – the patterns we have fallen into that saved us from the next unrelentingly bland and inconsolably same day. Rain, Showers, Drizzle, Fog, Downpour, Light, Heavy, Spit, Sprinkle, Hail, Torrent, Mist, Haze, Vapor, Miasma, Murkiness, Daze …Stupor, or just wet suspended in the air everywhere, siphoning sun rays into the atmosphere. While our clothes fade and turn into worlds of their own universal nature; lives and stories we cannot even imagine anymore contained in the fibers, deep in the primordial niches of the fabric.

The flood gates open and we run, screaming, for the mountains. We are vaguely aware of the humans we used to be. The creatures we have become can only find solace in the isolation of nature, where we hope to dry our bones, rejuvenate our skin and burn off the foreign life that has invaded the crannies of our minds, skin and conciousness.
